‘Thank you for being there for me’

Working in health and social care can be highly challenging but also hugely rewarding. AFG receives positive comments and praise for the work it does every day from the people it supports and their families.

Here’s some particularly noteworthy heartfelt praise from Steven Bellis, who is supported at AFG’s independent Weaver Lodge mental health hospital in Winsford, which we wanted to share.

Steven has recently written to Weaver Lodge registered manager Justine Millington and her staff to say just how much he loves being at Weaver Lodge and how he appreciates the care and support he receives. Here are some snippets from his lovely letters: ‘I would like to say thankyou for being there for me. I love living here. Everyone is here for me and I am happy to stay here for a little bit longer. I love you all.’

Just before last Christmas he wrote: ‘Dear Justine. How are you? I am getting excited about Christmas, are you? I cannot wait until we have the party soon. I love living at Weaver Lodge.’

Shortly before new year 2020 he said: ‘I love living at Weaver Lodge. I cannot wait until teatime to cook my chops and sweetcorn. I hope that we all have a great new year. Love Steven Bellis.’

Justine said: “Receiving this kind of lovely feedback always reminds me of why I decided to come into health and social care in the first place. It’s such a privilege to support people like Steven. Letters like these spur us all on to do the very best job we can for people just like Steven – helping to improve the quality of their lives and making a positive difference.’

Weaver Lodge provides long stay or rehabilitation mental health wards for working-age adults.
