Recovery celebrated at Lea Court sports day
Lea Court independent hospital’s annual sports and BBQ day raised funds for the people it supports whilst celebrating the recovery work it does with patients.
Service users, carers, families, staff, ex-service users and friends were all invited to take part in the sports and enjoy a BBQ at the Warrington-based hospital.
Registered manager Carol Naylor said: “The weather, the fantastic BBQ and all the sports events were amazing and quite competitive, all contributing to a great day. We raised over £115 on a tombola and raffle for our service user activities to be decided by them.
“Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day. One service user said she hadn’t laughed so much for years when we had a water bomb fight. Everyone one else said what a great day. Can we do it again next week?! The teamwork at Lea Court was evident in the complete success of the day. It was great to have visitors from our head office here too.”
The Mayor and Mayoress of Warrington both attended and joined in the fun, taking part in the egg and spoon race.
Dr Phil Cooper from State of Mind met with attendees and discussed everyday challenges faced by all involved around mental health and the stigma attached to it.
Pathways to Recovery attended to encourage and raise awareness of their service.
