Supporting people with Autism Spectrum Disorders

Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with, and relates to other people. It also affects how they make sense of the world around them.

Alternative Futures Group supports many individuals across the North West with Autism Spectrum Disorders, enabling them to lead active and fulfilling lives.

Whilst everyone on the autism spectrum shares a range of particular difficulties, each individual is different, which is why our support is flexible, bespoke and designed around individual needs. Some people with autism are able to live independent lives; others need support at particular times in their life, whilst others may need longer term specialist support.

Our aim

We aim to provide people on the autism spectrum with the specialist support that they need to lead exciting and fulfilling lives.

The support we provide

We offer many different models of support for people who have Autism Spectrum Disorders, including supported living, outreach, supported employment and access to our specialist Community Team.

At Alternative Futures Group we use a person centred outcome focused approach in working with the people we support with autism, their families/carers, staff teams and within the wider community. Our Community Team consists of dedicated specialists, including autism leads, who deliver a multidisciplinary approach to ensure we consistently provide each person with holistic person-centred support.

We also offer specialist advice/support, awareness raising and introductory training for all our support staff so they understand the specific needs of people on the autism spectrum.

We understand that autism affects each person differently and the complexity of the condition means we don’t have a one-size-fits-all approach. We are able to provide bespoke support solutions that not only address the impact of autism upon the person, but also seek to identify and assist the person, their supporting staff, family and friends in implementing individualised strategies that support individuals with autism to achieve their goals.

Our autism support can be accessed through referral to our multidisciplinary Community Team.
