Why we do what we do

Earlier this month we reported the positive experience of John (not his real name). John has learning disabilities and behaviour support needs.

We successfully transitioned John from hospital into his own home on Merseyside in June. Despite the complexities of the case, the move went very well and is being used as a case study by NHS England.

This is great news but we have been really moved and humbled by the feedback we’ve received from John’s mum.

“I want to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to all the staff involved with our son’s transition from a long stay in a secure unit to his own dedicated accommodation. From our perspective as parents, we could not have imagined how successful the transition would been.

“This has been accomplished by the care, dedication and enthusiasm of the support team. I cannot tell you all how much John’s life has been transformed by this move. It has required detailed planning and patience and, after a great number of tough years for him, he now seems settled and happy.

“Thank you once again to all the staff involved in caring and supporting John. You are doing a fantastic job and making a huge difference to our son’s life . Keep up the good work!”
