Video diary of a Support Worker

AFG Support Worker, and trained actor, Chris Thompson has a starring role talking about his job in a series of daily video diaries on Facebook and Twitter.

Chris, who has appeared on Coronation Street and was recently filming for Hollyoaks, explained:

“I’m really enjoying making these video diaries. It gives people the opportunity to see what a Support Worker really does. It can be varied and demanding but always rewarding.

“For instance, in my first film I had the pleasure of announcing that one of our service users was getting engaged, in the second I attended the Tuesday Disco Club, and in the third I caught up with the happy couple and saw the ring. There are lots more to come.  I find my job incredibly rewarding because I can make such a difference to peoples’ lives.”

Chris, who works in Tameside, is bringing his acting talents to raising awareness about the amazing work that dedicated AFG support workers do every day.

AFG Regional Resource Lead (Merseyside & Greater Manchester) Sean McGrann said: “We wanted to talk directly to people and we thought a video diary was the best way to achieve this – to show the realities of being a Support Worker.”
