At the very heart of our services
The people we support play a big part in everything we do at Alternative Futures Group. User involvement is at the very heart of our services and shapes every aspect of our work. By getting involved and having their voice heard, people are able to be in control and help shape the care and support they receive.
We provide a range of opportunities to encourage the people who are receiving our support to get involved; matching their skills, gifts, talents and the time commitment they wish or are able to offer.
Examples of ways in which we involve the people we support are:
Local involvement forums/groups
User led local area groups actively involved in talking about the support/services they receive and/or organisational policy. Your local team will let you know when groups are meeting in your area.
Recruitment of staff
People supported by AFG are meaningfully involved in the recruitment and selection of new staff members. This includes assisting with recruitment events, sitting on interview panels and skill matching.
Events and conferences
Such as organisational conferences, local celebration, information and social events.
People supported are given the opportunity to host their own radio show on LDOK Radio, an inclusive online radio station. Find out more by visiting the LDOK Radio website.
A partnership between AFG and Mencap Liverpool which supports people to access meaningful community, leisure, social and educational activities in Liverpool, Knowsley or St Helen’s. Find out more by visiting The Leaf Project website.
People supported, their family members/carers are given the opportunity to have their say on the support/services they receive from us.
