Fun Day raises £650 for MIND
A Fun Day at AFG’s Ellesmere Port Meadow Park independent hospital has raised £650 for the mental health charity MIND.
The day included a tombola, bouncy castle, food stalls, arts and crafts and face painting.
Organiser AFG’s Sian Williams said: “There were lots of stalls including jewellery, sweets, candles, crafts, festival glitter, burgers, slush and popcorn.”
AFG staff and service users came together to make the event a success which was also attended by people from local care homes.
“Staff set up a cake stall, tombola, bric-a-brac, drinks and food, including curry and paella made by Singaporean and Spanish staff members. There was a raffle with prizes including Chester FC tickets, David Lloyd gym pass, Blue Planet aquarium pass, a large chocolate hamper, Nando’s meals voucher, Village hotels carvery voucher and local florist voucher which staff and local shops donated.”
Service users had also invested a lot of time preparing for and setting up their own stalls on the day.
Sian added: “One of our service users had a bric-a-brac stall selling 250 home-made keyrings, bracelets and charms made from parachute cord.”
Adding to what was a strong community event, local fire and police crews invited the public to inspect their vehicles and ask questions.
“It was really positive for us as we love to keep close contacts with our local community.”
Meadow Park Manager Emma Worrall said:
“It was fantastic to see the hospital busy with family, friends and local people – all enjoying activities, stalls and some amazing food. It was a day that highlighted why I am proud to be the Manager of Meadow Park. A huge thanks to everyone who attended or helped out. It was great to see not only the local community but staff and service users from other sites. Our service users loved it and we start planning the next one soon.”
